Christmas is over and I've had a fab break, I'm feeling relaxed and refreshed and ready to get into some new crafty projects!
I love Christmas and I'm sad to see it go, but what particularly upsets me about this time of year is the waste - it's so sad on the 6th of January to see Christmas Trees out in the street and decorations discarded. That's why this year I'm finding ways to re-use and recycle my old Christmas cards - ready for next year. It's a positive way to keep the memories from this year and recycle, as well as get a head start on next year!
I've compiled a list of ideas below, from different blogs, pinterest and beyond with (what i think) are the most simple and effective ideas for recycling your cards. I hope it inspires you with some ideas to do the same!
1. Present tags
As everyone knows, the first and easiest way to re-use your favourite cards is to make them into present tags for next years gifts. A simple but effective way to jazz up some plain gifts and recycle all at the same time. (Image found via goodhousekeping.com) Simply cut out the shapes and use a hole punch to attach thread.
2. Christmas bunting
This fab idea from octaviaandvicky.com uses the cards to create next years advent calendar! Written on the back of each card is a Christmas prompt or task to make you feel super festive - like 'write a letter to santa' or 'make paper snowflakes'. I think this is a lovely idea! 4. Christmas Tree Decorations
The web is awash with string ecorations you can make with your old Christmas cards - and some inventiveness with the shapes can make really effective ornaments that would look great on next years tree (or the whitewash twigs you happen to have lying around, as shown above). This particular ornament tutorial can he found on Better Homes and Gardens website here).
5. A Christmas card wreath!
