It's nearly here! This weekend the Crafty Fox Autumn markets will be opening up their doors in the fabulous venue of Kachette in Shoreditch, as part of the London Design Festival. My paper installation will be decorating the venue which will feature 80+ stalls of independent designer/makers and their crafts, as well as a bar and DJ to boot!
After a month of planning, I am extremely excited that it is all about to be up for everyone to see. It has been so much fun to plan and make so I really hope everyone likes it!
I shared some of my large collage strips in my last blog post, and here are a couple of them, as a work in progress.
They were pretty tough to make as they involved some sore scissor hands and lots of crawling around on the floor! The results, I hope, will be fun and add a little colourful decoration to the venue.
I also began work on this larger origami piece last week, and it has final taken shape. This is a mixture of origami leaf shapes and Kusudama flowers which are all really striking but in fact (with a bit of patience) incredibly simple to make. I'll be posting some tutorials on these in the next few months.
A really fun aspect of this project is that it has pushed me out of my comfort zone to work on a bigger and more extravagant scale, and I've learnt a lot of new techniques and had some ideas that I can't wait to put into practice given my next opportunity!
Now all that remains is to string up my last decorations and glue my last leaves ready for Saturday! Follow all my work in progress so far and events over the weekend, with the hashtag #LPVinstallation on twitter and Instagram.
