This week has been an incredibly busy week, as things have been ramping up in preparation for my paper installation at Crafty Fox Market which will be on display at Kachette in Shoreditch, in just under 2 weeks!
Those of you who have been following my progress will know that for the installation so far I have been cutting, collaging and sticking several hundred leaf and flower shapes. This week, however I have been adding a bit of a 3D element with the paper folding techniques of Origami.
One of the shapes I will be using in the display is the lotus flower, which is quite a pretty flower shape, but actually fairly easy to make. (If you'd like to try it yourself you can check out my tutorial here). The only thing about origami is that it can take a fair amount of time to make (I only have two hands after all!) but thankfully on Thursday night, the Crafty Fox Autumn Market Traders were all on hand to help out.
We all got together at the lovely plush surroundings of the Heals store on Tottenham Court Road for a drink, a chat about our plans for the upcoming markets and an origami making session to help with my display.
Together we made over 60 origami lotus flowers and 1 frog!
Apart from being great fun, this has been a massive help for me and I'd like to thank everyone who attended for lending a helping hand, and of course, Crafty Fox Market for organising. You'll be able to see the colourful results on display on the 26th and 27th of September as part of the Special edition Crafty Fox Market in conjunction with the London Design Festival. From meeting some of the other people who will trading at the markets over Autumn, I can definitely say that it will be worth a visit to get your hands on some amazing products by some very talented people!
